Native Bees in Log - 11 - more arriving soon
Copper coloured gum log with bark removed. Very cool hive!
Our lovely logs contain thriving colonies of bees that number in the 10 000's. They are established and fully insulated within the wall of the trunk.
Each log will look different as each will come from a tree that were felled in land clearing. The pieces then get rescued and supplied to us instead of being bulldozed and burnt.
The logs weigh in excess of 100kgs and so not easy to post! This is a pick up service only from us in Brisbane. We are open daily from 9-12 noon to make it easier for you.
When positioning your log, it must have a paver placed under the flat base to stop any wood from rotting and a paver or some type of roof placed on the top to stop water entering the log. The log must be placed in a shady spot and NOT in the full sun as the heat in Summer may kill the hive.
A log in the garden is incredibly beautiful. Pollination and art going together in a wonderful synergy!
This hive is from an old section of gum and has had the bark pulled off revealing the amazing copper tones of the wood. Approx 75cm tall and 50cm diameter across the base.
